Zonzo Estate FAQ
Zoncello YV FAQBookings
Will I be placed on a communal table?
Our smallest table size is for a group of 6, so groups of 2-12 guests may be placed on a communal table depending on the area they’ve booked (and the table configurations on the day). We leave ample space between all groups to allow for a comfortable dining experience.
If you have a preference for your own table, you are welcome to mention this at the time of booking and we will take it into consideration when assigning tables. However, it is not guaranteed.
Can I add people to my booking once it’s made?
You thought you had your guest numbers confirmed and then another person says they can come... we are always happy to assist if you need to add people to your reservation.
If you need to increase guest numbers we recommend contacting us more than a week out from your booking to avoid disappointment.
Please keep in mind that we tend to book out in advance, so we cannot guarantee we’ll be able to increase your reservation when needed.
Do I have to arrive at my sitting time?
As with most Yarra Valley restaurants, lunch is very popular. We maintain strict sitting times for all reservations and ask that you arrive on time for your sitting to avoid delays (and get the most out of your time with us).
The sitting times for reservations vary in duration, with most lasting up to 2 hours. However, some sittings only allow for 1 or 1.5 hours. Your sitting time will be stated at the time of booking and in your confirmation email, so please take note of this.
We offer a 15 minute grace period for all reservations. If you are running later than this, please notify us so we do not give your table away.
We are also a wedding venue and have strict property closure times, to set up for wedding days. Subsequently, you are required to vacate our premises by the nominated time. Please check with staff if you would like more information.
Is there a wait list?
We are a busy restaurant and tend to book out in advance. If you’re unable to get a reservation on your desired date or time, please keep checking back on our online booking portal. If anything changes this is the first place that is updated with our most current availability.
Because of this, we do not keep a wait list for reservations. We advise booking in advance to get your desired date and time.
What is the cancellation policy?
For all weekend reservations and groups over 20 on weekdays, we take a $20pp deposit to secure bookings. This payment is non-transferable and non-refundable once booked, and is discounted from your final bill on the day. This may also apply to all groups on a weekday during peak times.
Please check our booking terms before securing a reservation.
What happens if I book outside and it’s raining on the day of my booking?
Outside tables are available to book and make for a wonderful place to dine and soak up the Yarra Valley views. However, these tables are not undercover and umbrellas provide only partial shade. This means you may find yourself sitting in the sun at certain times throughout your booking.
If you’ve booked outside and the weather is not suitable (eg. extremely hot or raining), management will either move your booking to an undercover area, subject to availability, or cancel it.
In the event of cancellation at management’s discretion, a full refund of the deposit/prepayment will be given.
If you have booked outside, this is where your table is allocated. Please consider this when booking outside, as an alternative is not guaranteed.
Does Zonzo cater for dietary requirements?
We’re well versed in catering for dietary requirements, ranging from vegetarian, vegan, coeliac, dairy free, fructose free and allergies. We’ve got you covered.
If you or someone dining with you has dietary requirements, please mention these in the notes section at the time of booking, so our team can cater accordingly. We require notice at least 72 hours prior to your booking of all dietary requirements. Please call us on (03) 9730 2500 or reply to your reservation confirmation to update your dietary requirements.
If you are dining with us on a weekend and indulging in the Zonzo Festa Menu, we can make alterations where needed for dietary requirements, and will ensure everyone has plenty of food to eat. For example, a vegetarian will receive a separate vegetarian plate, will be able to select a vegetarian pizza from the menu and will receive vegetarian pasta instead of the slow cooked lamb.
Please note, if you are fructose-free we kindly ask you to specify what you cannot eat, as this can mean something different for everyone (eg. no onion or garlic). We also ask that if children have dietary requirements, that you specify they are children.
If you arrive on the day and haven’t notified us of dietary requirements, there is no guarantee we will be able to cater for you accordingly.
What happens if someone in my group is unwell?
You make plans, secure a table and then someone gets sick... it happens.
For all weekend reservations and larger groups on weekdays, we take a $20pp deposit from your final bill, but do understand that people get sick and are happy to assist you.
If a large portion of your group is unwell, or you as the host are sick and unable to attend, we’re more than happy to assist in postponing the event to another date that suits.
We understand you can’t help when you fall ill, but do ask for as much notice as possible. Please call us on (03) 9730 2500 or email info@zonzo.com.au if you’re unable to attend.
Celebrations
Can I bring decorations for the table?
If you are joining us for a birthday celebration or special occasion, you’re welcome to bring in a couple small decorations for your table. We allow vases of flowers, small centrepieces and a couple of balloons.
Please note, we are a family-friendly venue and do not allow adult decorations of any kind. Under no circumstances are confetti or confetti-filled balloons to be brought onto the Estate.
Our menu is a sharing style menu with food placed in the centre of the table, so we do ask that decorations are kept to a minimum to allow for this. All seatings are in a communal dining space, so we also ask you to be mindful of diners around you.
Can I bring a cake?
Yes, you are most welcome to bring a cake to our venue.
We charge a $25 fee to bring a cake. We will store it for you and provide the necessary plates, cutlery and a cake knife for you to cut and serve the cake yourself at the table.
If you provide candles with the cake, we are happy to bring the cake our lit for you, however we’re unable to provide candles for you.
Please notify us if you plan to bring a cake to your reservation at least 72 hours prior to the booking.
Alternatively, if you would like to bring a candle we can always put this in one of our desserts for you, then bring it out to the table.
Does Zonzo offer private functions?
We offer private functions Monday to Sunday and have a range of options depending on your group size. Please contact us at info@zonzo.com.au for packages and pricing.
Any reservations made on Saturday and Sunday are for a non-private booking in one of our dining spaces and we can accommodate groups of up to 50 (including children and infants).
During our off-peak wedding season (July and August) we will occasionally open up Saturday evenings for private dining, so keep an eye out on our social media pages for announcements.
The Estate
What is the best way to and from Zonzo Estate?
The drive to Zonzo Estate is a lovely one and with plenty of things to do in Yarra Valley, you can make a day of it. We have generous on-site parking, too.
If you are planning to dine in a large group and want to travel together, we recommend looking into local bus group, tour groups or a private car service.
Taxis and Uber are not a reliable form of transportation in the area, so you may find it easy to get here, but it’s often difficult to get home. For this reason we suggest driving or arranging an alternative mode of transport.
Can I bring my dog?
We love our doggos! That being said, you cannot bring your furry friend along to lunch at Zonzo. Only accredited guide dogs (in accordance with The Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992) are allowed on the premises.
In addition to being a winery and restaurant we’re also a working farm, so for the safety of our animals and staff, we kindly ask you to leave your furry friends at home.
